The Baron Drops In Buzzer Beater As Warriors Down Celtics 119-117

Another last second shot for the Baron, and another win for the Golden State Warriors. With the game tied at 117 and 6.5 seconds to go, Warriors guard Baron Davis casually took the inbounds pass, methodically dribbled to the right, then sank a fall away jumper over the outstretched arms of Boston Celtics defender Tony Allen as time expired, sending the Celtics to their second straight loss against the Western Conference, after starting the season 16-0 against cross conference foes.

A night after falling to the Denver Nuggets 124-118, the Celtics once again found themselves in a hole in the 4th quarter, but were able to use 7 points from All Star Paul Pierce in the last 1:38 of the game to battle back and tie the game up, including two free throws with 6.5 seconds left, after the referees overturned a charging foul against Pierce, and changed it to a blocking foul on Al Harrington to send Pierce to the line. As he has done time and time again the past two years, Davis took over at the end, and sent the Oracle Arena fans in Oakland home in a frenzy with another signature buzzer beater.

In a game that featured little defense and numerous lead changes, Warriors guards Monta Ellis (26 pts, including 12 in 4th quarter) and Baron Davis (29 pts, 6 reb, 6 ast) seemed unstoppable. If the Eastern Conference and NBA-best Celtics (now 41-11) want to be able to beat somebody in this year's Finals, they're going to have to start playing better defense against opposing guards, because there are seemingly All Star caliber guards leading every powerful Western Conference team that will be in the playoffs, and the Celtics most likely won't be able to keep up a frantic scoring pace with teams in the West that accel at such ventures (ala Phoenix, Utah, Golden State).
